Blog Template

Now that I've all the time in the world to fiddle around with things, I tried my hands at changing the blog template.

*sigh*

Just cant seem to be able to customise the new template which I had downloaded to include graphics, photos & links ! Im to the point of giving up ... BUT no, not yet .. I'll find a way no matter what.
So, it's back to Polka Dots for now .. *shrug*

By the way, GOOD NEWS ! Guru Lian-Sheng is coming down to KL to conduct 法会 in late October ! Im going to be a kiasu disciple & book the hotel room way in advance. Hmm .. on 2nd thoughts, better hold my horses & check out situation in new place first. What if Tibetan Nun's new boss is a slave-driver ?!?

Someone's turning 21 !

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the first cousin in my family who won the cutest baby contest .. ermm .. 21 years ago ...

"Sorry gal, cant bring you paint the town red cos I've cleaned up my act, but Im very sure there'll be people to teach you about the vices .. heh .. heh ... "

She belongs to the generation of cousins I've babied, cuddled & "manipulated" since they were really tiny. hehe ... The really younger ones (now) had been lucky to get out of my clutches, cos really, I've been out of action from family gatherings for the past few years.

Just felt alittle strange that despite all the years that had zapped by, I hadnt really changed (mentally) .. still like the peanuts, strawberry shortcake, doraemon & betty boop ... *shudder* I am who I am ... despite the increasing gravitational pull on my face & body, I'm still the same ! hey hey ! No smarter, no richer, no slimmer ! ...

Such is life ...

Retail Therapy

Bumper harvest today !!! 大丰收

Woohoo !! I felt so proud just looking at my newly acquired facial products ... *grinz*

I sooooo believe they are going to work wonders for my weather-beaten & dehydrated face (all thanks to China). Yeah ! So happy ! Finally, I can look forward to days where my face is no longer flaking !

Let's see what I bought:

H2O moisturiser with SPF 30 - Lightweight & smooth. Good as base for make-up
Laneige Water Sleeping Pack Plus - Thumbs-Up ! I had this gel mask on as Im typing away now. Cool, hydrating & revitalising. Smell great too !
Laneige Waterbank Cream - Daily light-weight night cream. Water-based. Smell refreshing !
Laneige Waterbank Essence - Won one of the "Her World" cosmetics award for working well with the moisturiser to pump up hydration of skin.
Laneige Strawberry Soft Peel Mask - Hmm ... Works fine to get rid of dead skin cells but I find it a little hassle having to rub the gel off. Plus point - Not harsh on skin as compared to other peeling masks & it smells good enough to eat !!

Got these as free gifts with my purchase:
Laneigh Hydro Essence / Toner / Anti-Aging Essence / Pore-refiner / Pore cleanser

Know what's the best ?? I've never met another sales girl who is so generous with her free samples. Not that I spent a bomb at her counter (basing on another customer who buy like 4 products 2 sets each hor), she is just plain generous lar! When I asked for another sample tube of peeling mask for my fren, she happily took out 3 x 20 ml sample tubes. Free items which she stuffed into the carrier, at least got 2 pieces each hor !! Alamak, this kind of service where to find man?? Ans: Go Orchard Isetan & look for Jeanne. If Im ever going to buy anything from Laneigh in future, Im going to buy only from her. The way she gave things so freely, ai yo damn tok-kong ...

Really know, it's not easy being a woman ... There are just too many areas of the body to upkeep. This is an arduous task esp for a person like me where more cosmetic & restoration work is required. Since I was a male in my past life, why cant I remain as one this lifetime ??? Things would have been less complicated isnt it ... *sigh*

Ok lar, enough of ranting ... oh gosh !!!! 3am already .. ok, better get some sleep .. if not, I will have to spend more money to buy eye cream...

Who's Responsible ??

In every country, there are bound to be people who are "screw-loose". But do you see them watering bullets everywhere & putting people's life in jeopardy ?

Could the killing rampage in America and criminal acts brought about by the free use of weapons be prevented if possession of guns is not legalised ?

For such tragedies that happened, so who should take sole responsibility then ??

Asia Super Power

China never fail to amaze me ...

Not only in terms of its geographical beauty, culture and lifestyle, but also the sanitary conditions and the ease at which people cleared their throats in public & spit with a vengeance. U would be be lucky if u managed to avoid the spit landing on your shoes or on the path that u might accidentally stepped on !

I had been warned of the unsavoury bits of travelling there but despite all these, China always manage to lure me back. Let's see ... the last trip was my 4th to China... but Im not yet done with the country.

To be fair, I have to say that they had improved tremendously. The city of Beijing & Shanghai have progressed far beyond my expectations ... Just look at way the toilets have improved from little huts with canals for you-know-wat, to proper toilet system plus water-taps with sensor installed at wash basins ! That to me, is marked improvement. In the past, every lady travelling in China has to bring along an umbrella to cover their modesty in case they need to relieve themselves among bushes or on farm-land. How different it is now ...

But one thing remain unchanged ... people being Chinese, are as shrewd as they are reputed to be. The more you try your hands at bargaining, the more you realise that the principle of "ethical business" does not exist in this society. They try to cheat you alittle here & there. The things sold are so ridiculously priced that you can slash from RMB 200 to RMB 30 for a simple fake polo T-shirt ! That makes me wonder if Im still over-charged even when Im paying only 1/10 of the asking price ...

Shrewd & rude people aside, highlight of the trip gotta be the Great Wall. Chairman Mao once said,

不到长城非好汉。

But for many people,

爬完长城满身汗

Wah, cant imagine how the soldiers climb from station to station in the past esp when the wind was howling away ! Got to salute the people who build the great wall thousand of years ago ... how do they survive roughing it out with that kind of terrain with the scale of contruction ?!?

It's a pity also that I didnt sign on with a more reputable agency that ensured customers spend ample time to tour from place to place & soak in the atmosphere. They were more keen to bring us shopping than anythingelse & I'm mighty pissed. I could have climbed up the Tiananmen Gate to catch the majestic view of the plaza, but I didnt. I could have toured a greater section of the Forbidden City to better understand the life of royal family living in the palace, but I didnt. I could have been brought to see the extraordinary "Echo Walls" of Tian-Tan, but I didnt have the opportunity. For all these sights that I did not catch during this trip, I probably have to pay another $1k to go back & Beijing. Argh ...

What was more astounding was the lecture we received from the tour-guide who was terribly disappointed with a handful of us for not contributing to his commission at the designated shops, which were meant to fleece tourists. Such audacity !!!

Mini "Potala" Palace

Actually, there is so much to see in China & the experience should be great if not for the sucky attitude that most Chinese nationals possess. The west part of China, which I saw in bits & parts during my previous Silk Road trip, is relatively less commercialised and untouched by tourism. This is one place to visit if you are really keen to see another side of China, which carries heavy Islamic influence. I tell you, you wont regret it....

Cant wait to pack my bags to go for another trip !! hmm .. where's next ??

Chin-glish

Not wanting to waste the night away in Beijing, a nice couple (tour-mates) and us went to "Ghost Street" for supper.

See what we discovered on the menu ...

Over in Singapore, the Buddha will probably jump over the wall City-Style ...

Wow ... didnt know it is edible !!

ha.ha.. this delicacy should be an acquired taste for some.
